LOS ANGELES COUNTY EDUCATION FOUNDATION
The mission of the Los Angeles County Education Foundation (the Foundation) is to provide leadership for the continuing improvement of education and to contribute to the growth and well-being of all children in Los Angeles County. The Foundation was incorporated in 1996 under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is the legally-separate nonprofit affiliate of the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE). In addition to assisting selected LACOE and school district programs, the Foundation has three main priorities:
- Science and Outdoor Education -- owning and operating Blue Sky Meadow and many programs under the Blue Sky Meadow Science Institute; increasing outdoor opportunities for disabled children and youth
- Services for Students Who are Low-income, Disabled, or Under Court Supervision -- increasing vocational and transition opportunities for youth in probation camp schools; providing home tutoring for deaf children and their parents; supporting opportunities for children with special needs
- School Readiness -- assisting with preschool and school readiness program expansion; sponsoring activities to increase access to early developmental screening and follow-up services in high-need communities
Contributions to the Foundation and its programs, including Blue Sky Meadow, are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by the Internal Revenue Service.
